OpenAI has signed a multiyear infrastructure deal with AWS (Amazon Web Services) at $38 billion, one of the largest cloud contracts ever. This strategic partnership will enable OpenAI to run its vast workload on AWS infrastructure with immediate effect. The infrastructure will help OpenAI expand its computing capacity while improving performance, scalability, security, and efficiency.
AWS’s world-class infrastructure will enable access to hundreds of thousands of advanced NVIDIA GPUs in its EC2 UltraServers, along with the ability to expand tens of millions of CPUs. The infrastructure will interconnect Nvidia’s latest GB200 and GB300 chips, enabling OpenAI to train its models, catering to its unprecedented demand and ever-evolving needs.
The agreement aims to deploy initial targeted capacity before the end of 2026, and further expansion will be done in 2027 and beyond.
According to OpenAI Founder and CEO Sam Altman, the partnership with AWS will add value to ChatGPT users and bring advanced AI to everyone, signaling a shift for eCommerce too.
